SUEZ organises panels to consult its individual shareholders

To further enhance communication between SUEZ and its individual shareholders, the Shareholder Relations team sets up occasional consultation panels reserved to Club members.

The purpose of these panels is to improve our communication documents and actions through listening and dialogue.

With regard to the Shareholders’ Meeting, the Shareholders’ letter, the Shareholders’ guide, the management of registered names and financial advertising, numerous themes have been tackled since the launch of the process in 2010 which has resulted in SUEZ environnement being more attentive and more in sync with its individual shareholders.

Report of the panel : Future Shareholders Observatory (october 2017)

For SUEZ’s 16th annual individual shareholder consultative panel, which took place on 4 October 2017 in Bordeaux, the panelists were invited to reflect on the proposals of the Future Shareholders Observatory, a focus group launched by the Responsible Capitalism Institute, working to promote individual and employee shareholding.
The shareholders also presented their analysis of three concrete proposals from the Future Shareholders Observatory, to boost individual and employee shareholding:
− Organise individual employee shareholding summits
− Launch annual individual employee shareholding days
− Create a young people’s share savings plan (PEA) open to those aged 16 and over.
The shareholders, who are highly in favour of creating a young people’s PEA, emphasised the importance of strengthening individual shareholding in the long term, by recruiting younger shareholders. They believe that initiatives such as taxation adapted for young people, education about the workings of the economic world and the stock market, and organising events that mobilise all stakeholders (for example shareholding summits or days) will help to remove the obstacles to investment in shares and provide greater visibility for the theme of shareholding.

Following the meeting, the shareholders were invited to visit the RAMSES remote control flood prevention centre.

Report of the panel : The SUEZ stock market profile (march 2017)

The 15th consultative panel for SUEZ individual shareholders, held on 21 March 2017 at the Group headquarters in Paris-La Défense, highlighted work on the financial training module, “The SUEZ stock market profile”. The shareholders were invited to provide feedback on the current platform, the main topics that they would like to see addressed, as well as the practicalities of the training programme. For participants, the programme should outline trends in SUEZ stock, while also serving as a reminder of its long-term resilience. In this regard, they would be in favour of a presentation on the national and international context in which the Group is evolving. The shareholders also suggested highlighting the Group’s origins, its innovation policy and its commitment to the circular economy.

As the discussions came to a close, SUEZ CEO Jean-Louis Chaussade gave a presentation on the Group’s activities over the previous months and commented on the pending acquisition of GE Water.

At the end of the meeting, the shareholders were invited to visit “Le 17”, a showroom for the Group’s business lines.

Report of the panel : Shreholder’s Guide (september 2016)

The consultative panel for SUEZ individual shareholders was held on 29 September 2016 in Brussels. The shareholders expressed their opinions concerning the uses, messages, and format of the shareholder’s guide. The participants were satisfied with the SUEZ publications while at the same time defining areas for improvement. They underlined the need to present the Group’s strategy and perspectives in order to place it within the ecosystem. As such, research, innovation and international development are all priority areas for the future to be highlighted, as well as the Group’s sustainable development policy, and particularly its role in protecting oceans.

Report of the panel : Materiality exercise and integraded report (February 2016)

The 12th consultative panel for SUEZ individual shareholders was held on Friday, 12 February 2016 at the Group headquarters in Paris – La Défense. The shareholders commented on the methodology and results of the materiality matrix performed by SUEZ, concerning the entirety of its stakeholders, in the autumn of 2015. Questions were then posed regarding expectations vis-à-vis the new publication to be carried out by the Group: the integrated report, which aims to take into account SUEZ’s global performance. At the end of the meeting, the shareholders were able to continue their discussions over lunch with members of SUEZ’s Sustainable Development Department.

Report of the panel : How to get new shareholders on board ? (april 2015)

The meeting of the 11th individual shareholders consulting panel of SUEZ environnement was held on 2 April 2015, in Paris – La Défense, at the Group’s headquarters. Shareholders gave their opinions on the communication strategy to be adopted with a view to getting new shareholders on board. The interaction was helpful to SUEZ environnement shareholders’ relations staff in reflecting on both the messages and the communications mechanism to set up for this challenge.

Shareholders were invited to visit SUEZ environnement’s “17 ” showroom at the end of the meeting.

Report of the panel on digital communication: New practices (October 2014)

For the first time, SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT convened its advisory panel of individual shareholders in Lyon on 7 October 2014. The shareholders, the majority of whom came from the Rhône-Alpes region, expressed their opinion on the digital communication of SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT and their expectations in this area. The exchanges were an opportunity for the Shareholder Relations team to reflect on the creation of new digital tools for the Shareholders Club website, with the objective of adhering as closely as possible to the expectations of the members of the Shareholders Club.

Following the meeting, the shareholders were invited to visit the La Feyssine city wastewater treatment plant at Villeurbanne.

Minutes on the panel on shareholder meeting and trade shows (March 2014)

On 3 March 2014, a new advisory panel of individual shareholders met at the SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT headquarters in La Défense, Paris. For the first time, shareholders were able to express their opinions regarding the shareholders’ meetings organised by SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT (frequency, location, speakers, content, etc.) and the dedicated trade shows in which the Group participates (Actionaria, Village des Actionnaires, etc.) in France and in Belgium. The very constructive exchanges, held in a lasting spirit of attentiveness and dialogue, have helped the Shareholder Relations team to better understand the expectations of its shareholders and to identify areas highlighted for improvement for 2014 events.

At the start of the meeting, Frédérique Raoult, Head of Sustainable Development and Communications and Olivier Jacquier, Executive Vice-President in Charge of Finance for SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT, welcomed the eight individual shareholders present. They also presented the SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT shareholder relations policy as well as the 2013 financial results and recent Group news.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the shareholders were invited to visit ‘Le 17’, the SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT showroom.

Minutes of the financial publications panel meeting (October 2013)

The new advisory panel of individual shareholders met on 15 October 2013 at SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT’s headquarters in La Défense, Paris. Shareholders gave their views on SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT’s communications campaign for the Group’s financial results (notices published in the press, dissemination via online banners, etc.). The discussions helped the Shareholder Relations team to develop a better understanding of how their shareholders use the financial press and specialist financial websites, and how to tailor the Group’s next communications campaign for 2013/14’s financial results accordingly.

At the start of the meeting, Jean-Louis Chaussade, Chief Executive Officer of SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT, welcomed the eight individual shareholders present and spoke about the Group’s shareholder relations policy before returning to the latest news from SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT.

At the end of the meeting, the shareholders were invited to visit “Le 17”, SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT’s showroom area.

Minutes of the panel review on the activity report (January 2013)

The seventh consultation panel meeting of individual shareholders was held on Thursday, 31 January, from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. at the Group’s head office at La Défense in Paris. The shareholders gave their views on the content and style (format, editorial line, headings, graphics etc.) of the SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT 2011 Activity Report, and whether introducing a digital strategy would be worthwhile. At the beginning of the meeting, Jean-Louis Chaussade, CEO, welcomed shareholders with a presentation of the latest news from SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT and took the time to respond to all of their questions.

The discussions were very constructive and helped the SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT Shareholder Relations team to gain more of an insight into the expectations of its shareholders and to begin work on the areas for improvement identified for the 2012 Activity Report.

At the end of the meeting, the shareholders were invited to visit “The 17”, SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT’s new showroom, designed to showcase the Group’s expertise and innovations.

Minutes of the panel on the website’s Shareholders’ Page (October 2011)

The fourth consultative panel, dedicated to the Shareholders’ page of the SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT website, was held Thursday, October 20, 2011 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Group’s headquarters at La Défense, Paris.

The nine shareholders presentfrom throughout France and Belgium, discussed changes to be made to the website’s Shareholders’ page, identifying areas for improvement relating to the information presented, its graphics, and the structure of the categories.

With the wealth of information gained from these high-quality discussions, SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT seeks to improve and enhance this space, and more broadly, the Group’s entire corporate website.

Minutes of the Shareholders’ Guide panel (March 2011)

The latest consultation panel on the Shareholders’ Guide was held on Thursday, 10 March 2011, between 9.30 a.m. and 1.00 p.m., at the offices of SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT, Paris – La Défense.

The 11 shareholders who attended the meeting, from France and Belgium, discussed the objective and frequency of publication of the Shareholders’ Guide, as well as the format, layout and content of the SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT 2009 Shareholders’ Guide

Having drawn many lessons from its high quality discussions, the SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT Shareholder Relations team intends to distribute a new edition of the Shareholders’ Guide at the Shareholders’ Meeting in 2011.

Report of the panel discussion on the Letter to Shareholders (October 2010)

The last panel discussion, devoted to the Letter to Shareholders, was held on Thursday, 7 October 2010 in Paris at the head office of SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT, rue d’Astorg.

The shareholders who attended exchanged views on the format, layout, and content of the Letter. They expressed their expectations and suggested areas for improvement.

Several new layouts for SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT’s Letter to Shareholders were presented to the members of tGestionnaire de fichiershe panel to obtain their points of view.

By identifying the expectations of its individual shareholders, the Investor Relations team of SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT will be able to propose a new Letter to Shareholders in March 2011, when the annual results are published.

Report of the panel discussion at the General Assembly (February 2010)

The first consultation panel of individual shareholders was held on Thursday 11 February from 9:30 to 1:00 at the SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT offices in Paris. Its focus was the Annual General Meeting. The panel gathered ten shareholders who are Club members. Armed with their acquaintance with general meetings, they evaluated the 2009 Annual General Meeting based on the written and video material they were provided.

The panel helped the Suez Environnement Shareholder Relations Team identify areas for improvement for the 2010 General Meeting. Suggestions concerned both content (e.g. speeches, films, analysis of the meeting) and form (e.g. venue, reception, logistics).
Next, the panel members were asked for their input in preparing the pre-General Meeting questionnaire which will be e-mailed to Club members at the end of March, and available for download in the Shareholders space on the website.
